Fire Stopping
Fire Stopping
Fire Stopping is a form of passive fire protection that is used to seal around openings and between joints to prevent fire (including smoke and heat) from passing through individual and multiple building compartments. They are designed to slow down and prevent the spread of a fire in a building. A fire stop is used to protect the people in the building along with the building itself from being damaged by a fire. Services penetrations and linear gap seals are mostly referred to as fire stops. While cavity barriers can be categorised as fire stops, they are mostly considered to be a separate category of passive fire protection.
